IELTS band score is a standardize way to check how proficient you are in English language. Your proficiency will be calculated by looking your score in each module: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

Each module has individual scale from 0 to 9, where 0 indicating no attempt, 9 represents that you are an expert in that particular module.

The band score is the average of the module scores which it displays when you input your results for each module. Rounding Rule:

The average score is rounded to the nearest 0.5 or whole band score:

• Scores ending in .25 are rounded up to the next half band (e.g., 6.25 → 6.5).
• Scores ending in .75 are rounded up to the next whole band (e.g., 6.75 → 7.0).

Understanding the IELTS Band Score Chart

The IELTS Band Score Chart shows how the different scores are obtained from the actual test. It’s especially important for the Reading and Listening sections because the scores are assigned depending on the number of correct answers that are given.
